Highlights of Northern Malaysia

For our journey to Malaysia we crossed the border from Thailand into Langkawi, the northernmost island in the country, via a quick ferry ride (the land crossing can be a bit dangerous). It turned out to be a great way to go because Langkawi is so beautiful! With only a day to explore we opted to take the cable car up to the top peak on the island for incredible panoramic views of the surrounding area. We spent the rest of our time exploring the town on foot and stuffing our faces with the incredible Indian food at Nasi Kandar Tomato. To this day, the meals we had there were some of the best of our entire four-month trip. Read More ›

Mosques and Markets of Istanbul

My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting Istanbul for three days during our honeymoon. We went with stories of a vibrant culture, luscious colors, spices and fabrics, and Turkey most certainly did not disappoint! As soon as we arrived in Istanbul we stopped for the much talked about apple tea. It was sweet and delicious and everywhere we went we saw people serving it to one another as a friendly gesture. Three Days in Prague

Prague was the last stop on our European vacation, and I absolutely fell in love with the Czech Republic. We spent three days in Prague strolling the winding cobblestone streets. Although Prague was occupied by Nazi armies during WWII, the city remained largely undamaged, leaving much of the stunning architecture intact for us to enjoy today. Prague is a city for wandering, as each nook and laneway brings another beautiful discovery. We arrived from Cesky Krumlov in the late afternoon and started out with a stroll through the gorgeous Old Town Square and an early dinner at the outstanding Ambiente Pasta Fresca. Read More ›

Positano and the Amalfi Coast

Clinging to the ancient, sun-drenched cliffs along the rugged Amalfi Coast is the tiny and charming, vertical town of Positano. Located in Campania, Southern Italy overlooking the Mediterranean Bay of Salerno, this pedestrian-only town won’t disappoint. With fantastic food and shopping (who can resist gelato?!), breath-taking ocean views, beach-side relaxation and tiny, winding streets carved out of the cliffs, there is something for everyone here. It’s ocean-side living at its best with all of the perks of European culture. Historic Pompeii is easily within reach by car or bus, and the gorgeous island of Capri sparkles like a jewel in the middle of it all. Positano is certainly La Dolce Vita! Read More ›

The Charming Village of Rovinj Croatia

It was yet another beautiful morning in Rovinj Croatia, as warm sunlight streamed through our bedroom window bringing sounds of laughter from the early morning fishermen. Slowly the town awakened and the many local artists opened their little boutiques and craft stores. We spent our morning walking the meandering alleys with shiny cobblestones, polished by the many people who have walked the streets in the hundreds of years since being settled in the sixth century.
