Three Weeks in Northern India

I spent many months planning an itinerary, booking trains and hotels, and generally trying to perfect my three-week trip to North India. I wanted to fit in as much as I could, without losing any quality time in the cities and towns I would visit. India, being so huge, inspiring and diverse, is not a place where one can do everything in three weeks. Fantasy Weekend at Suryagarh Palace

After being invited to be a guest at a wedding in the western deserts of India, I found the offer to be one I couldn’t refuse. Touring Dehli and Jaisalmer India

On the first of October I embarked on an incredible, if brief, trip to India to attend a friend’s wedding in Jaisalmer. Our journey went like this: Manhattan to Newark by train (1.5-hours, with hiccups). Newark to Delhi (14-hour flight). Delhi overnight. Delhi to Jodhpur (1-hour flight). And Jodhpur to the palace outside Jaisalmer (6-hour bus ride). So the travel took about four days and we were only in India for four days, but it was so completely worth it! Our hotel in Delhi was located in Hauz Khas Village, which is now a very artsy and happening neighborhood built next to a historic site.
