Weekend in Seattle

Seattle has been on my travel bucket-list for some time now. To me, traveling to the land of the endless evergreen trees was about two things: eating fresh seafood and hiking on trails that led to waterfalls. There is plenty to do in the city, so for a weekend in Seattle you have to be efficient with time! One of the first things we did when we arrived was hop on a ferry to Bainbridge Island. We wanted to feel the fresh salty air against our skin.

City View of Seattle

There are plenty of places to stay in Seattle and if this is your first time to the city you may want to get a hotel close to the famous Pike Place Market.

We wanted to stay at our favorite chain, Ace Hotel, in Belltown District because we love the modern industrial feel of their rooms. Plus, Belltown is a great place to walk around at night for live bands and fun bars, and it’s only a ten-minute walk to Pike Place Market.

The next day we drove an hour north to Wallace Falls. It’s hard to describe how it felt to be surrounded by fern-covered evergreen trees and to hear the crashing water as we got closer to the falls—it was magical and truly just breathtaking! The trail went through the valley and at certain peaks on the way we could even see the Olympic Mountains.

Our trip ended with a tummy stuffed with fresh caught oysters at The Walrus and the Carpenter.

For a nice escape from the city, we loved our visit to Wallace Falls.

If not photographing weddings in Southern California, you can find Ashley road tripping and backpacking across the Great Northern Pacific and small little villages all over the world.
