Summer in Venice

Venice has all the makings of a tourist trap but is definitely worth the experience. Easily walkable, one can get lost along the canals while noshing on pizza and gelato. I’d suggest staying in a hotel within walking distance of the bus or train station to avoid carting luggage onto a boat taxi or packed public water transportation. If you have the time you can make your way to neighboring islands. We went to Lido and loved it, but only wish we had made time for Burano. If you are willing to splurge on a gondola ride, be prepared to pay more at night for that romantic sunset. All in all Venice was a real treat!

Love this feature on Venice! One of my most favorite places in the world… I particularly love the shots of the everyday streets and Lido beaches. My island of choice for hotel/apartment rental is Guidecca. It’s filled with locals and sitting or walking on the fondamenta overlooking historic Venice across the way…

Oh, I miss it already. We were just there a couple of weeks ago and I just love your photo’s. We haven’t had time to do a post on our visit yet, sometime soon.
