Old Town Prague

In September, I traveled to Prague with my husband and son for four days of exploring. We stayed in the heart of the Old Town with its narrow, windy streets full of (often touristy) shops and people and restaurants. We had been to Prague once before and knew it had changed a bit with its popularity. It’s not as cheap now but it is very accessible (English was everywhere this time).

One of Prague’s most famous landmarks is the Astronomical Clock in the Old Town Square. Every hour on the hour a bell rings as statues of the apostles come out of windows and the clock chimes the hour. People gather below to watch, which means that the square gets very crowded.

Prague is extremely walkable and trolleys are available to get one from place to place outside of Old Town. We ventured out one day in search of Cafe FX (part of a nightclub called Radost FX), a vegetarian cafe we’d fallen in love with on our first trip to the area. It was still there and still serving up the same awesome veggie food. The city has no shortage of things to do, from exploring the Prague Castle and its amazing architecture to scenic boat trips on the Vltava River to climbing the stairs of Prague’s Eiffel Tower look-alike to strolling across the Charles Bridge.

The Grand Hotel Praha is directly across from the Astronomical Clock. Pay a little extra for a room with a view of the clock, it’s definitely worth it!
